DAY 2, Monday - Arrive in Porto
Arrive in Porto and transfer to your hotel. Balance of the day is at leisure to explore Portugal’s second largest city. In the evening, meet your Tour Manager and fellow travelers and enjoy a Welcome Dinner and orientation on the sensational journey that lies ahead

DAY 3, Tuesday - Porto City Tour
Today, enjoy a sightseeing tour of Porto with a local guide. Take a panoramic drive to the mouth of the Douro River, and visit the Church of Sao Francisco and the Stock Exchange, renowned for its exquisite neoclassical façade and ornate gilded Arabian Hall. Finish the tour with a visit to a Port Wine Cellar for a tasting. Tonight participate in the optional Douro River Cruise with dinner. Cruise along the colorful river valley, viewing the city from a new perspective. Pass by the numerous port wine cellars and under the magnificent bridges crossing the valley. Continue for a meal of local specialties in a typical restaurant with drinks included

DAY 4, Wednesday - Full Day in Porto
Enjoy a full day at leisure to explore this UNESCO World Heritage city. You may choose to visit the Casa da Musica, Tram Museum or Serralves Museum of Contemporary Art or, join the optional Medieval Portugal tour. Head inland to the heart of Minho province to enjoy the former Roman ‘Bracara Augusta’. Here, drive to the top of the 1,300 foot high hill of Bom Jesus, from where you can overlook the city of Braga and admire the famous Holy Way staircase, the most popular place of pilgrimage in the north of Portugal. Proceed to the town of Guimaraes for a walk through the medieval alleys. Enjoy a delicious lunch before returning to the hotel

DAY 5, Thursday - Coimbra, Fatima, Drive to Tomar
This morning, start a drive south through the Buçaco National Park to Coimbra, the third-largest city in Portugal to visit the 700-year-old university's baroque style library, a National Monument. In the afternoon, drive to Fatima, one of the most important Catholic shrines in the world dedicated to the Virgin Mary. Its Sanctuary welcomes millions of pilgrims from all over the world. Fatima's fame is due to the Apparitions of Our Lady of the Rosary that appeared to three shepherd children in 1917. Here, visit the great Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary built in neoclassical style, flanked by colonnades linking it with the extensive convent. Continue your journey to Tomar, one of Portugal’s historical jewels for dinner and overnight

DAY 6, Friday - Convent of Christ, Castelo de Vide, Drive to Evora
Start the day with a visit to the hilltop Convent of Christ with its famous Manueline window. Later, drive south and cross the Tagus river, passing Port wine vineyards and Cork Oak Trees along the way. Stop in Castelo de Vide and enjoy a stroll through the old Jewish Quarter. Here you can find the oldest synagogue in the country, although all that remains is one modest little room. Continue to Evora for dinner and overnight

DAY 7, Saturday - Evora City Tour
This morning, enjoy a guided tour of Evora. Discover the town's massive walls and Roman Temple, early Gothic Cathedral, and Sao Francisco Church that is famous for its Ossuary chapel, whose walls are decorated with thousands of human bones and skulls. Head on to see the Portas de Moura Fountain and the cobbled street of this former Royal town. Later, continue to Lisbon, one of the oldest cities in Europe, over 2,000 years old, and capital of Portugal since 1147. Tonight attend the optional Fado Dinner. Travel to the famous Barrio Alto district and join one of the popular performances of local songs and traditional dances accompanied by a gentle guitar playing Portuguese melodies. Enjoy dinner with wine before a brief drive through the illuminated city

DAY 8, Sunday - Lisbon City Tour
Today’s tour of Lisbon highlights the variety of heritage and styles that makes this one of Europe’s most beautiful cities. Begin with the treasured 16th century Belem Tower and the Jeronimos Monastery, the city's most prominent monument, designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Today, the monastery serves as a reminder of Portugal's wealth and power during the Age of Discovery. Then, to the dramatic Monument of Discoveries, built in honor of Henry the Navigator, instrumental in the success of Portuguese explorations during the 15th century. His monument, stands majestically at the marina in Belem, starting point for many of the country’s explorers. Walk through the cobbled alleys of Alfama, the seaman's quarter, and admire the wide Liberdade Avenue. Time for lunch on your own before an afternoon at leisure. Perhaps join the optional tour to quaint Sintra, the "Glorious Eden" of Lord Byron, and ancient summer retreat of the royal court, highlighted by lavish romantic castles and stunning monuments. Visit the Sintra Royal Palace, a 15th-century royal residence, containing one of the largest tile collections in Portugal, before returning to Lisbon

DAY 9, Monday - Full day in Lisbon's countryside
Enjoy a full day excursion to explore the countryside around Lisbon. The first stop on the northbound journey is medieval Obidos, with its historic center, and a labyrinth of cobblestoned streets, whitewashed houses and beautiful vistas. Continue to Alcobaça to visit the Church of Santa Maria Monastery. It was the first building in Portugal to adopt the Gothic style and was the largest church in the country. See the decorated tombs of King Pedro I and his lover Inês de Castro. Lastly, stop at the charming fishing harbor of Nazaré before heading back to Lisbon. Tonight, a delectable dinner of Portuguese specialties at a local restaurant

DAY 10, Tuesday - Travel to Seville
This morning, meet your new Tour Manager for Spain and head south. See views of the stunning cliffs and golden beaches as you get closer to fishing villages in the Algarve region that have held on to their customs and traditions over the centuries. Cross over the border to Spain at the popular resort city of Ayamonte, with its attractive tiled and tree-lined plazas. Linger over lunch, on your own, at one of the delightful restaurants before continuing your drive through picturesque Andalucia to Seville. After dinner, opportunity to attend an optional Flamenco Show in Seville, known as the birthplace of Flamenco

DAY 11, Wednesday - Seville City Tour
Begin the day with a visit to the Cathedral of Seville, the largest Gothic cathedral in the world. Built on the site of the former great Mosque, the Giralda Bell Tower, its original minaret, still stands. Admire the beautiful Plaza de España and the fragrant gardens of Maria Luisa Park. Visit the quaint Barrio Santa Cruz and the burial site of Christopher Columbus. Explore the narrow winding streets and the beautiful plazas of the Old Quarter during your leisure time. Or, participate in the optional afternoon tour to Córdoba, one of the most cultured and refined cities of medieval Europe. Here you visit the Mezquita, a former Moorish Mosque that today is Córdoba's main Cathedral. A walking tour of the city visits the Jewish Quarter with its medieval synagogue before returning to Seville. DAY 12, Thursday - Gibraltar Sightseeing En Route to Costa Del Sol
This morning head south and enjoy a visit to the impressive Rock of Gibraltar, an extraordinary chunk of limestone rising over the city. The British have remained in Gibraltar for over 300 years guarding over the strategic Straits of Gibraltar, where the Atlantic meets the Mediterranean and Europe meets Africa. You ascend by mini-bus to St. Michael's Cave, a dramatic natural grotto often used for public events. You’ll even get to meet the famous Barbary Apes. Enjoy some time in the main street of the town with its colonial buildings and duty-free shops before proceeding to the lovely resort area of the Costa del Sol for dinner and overnight

DAY 13, Friday - Full Day in Costa del Sol
Leisure day at the Costa del Sol to enjoy all of the delights of this resort area, including "fun in the sun" and water sports galore. The area is known for its hundreds of gorgeous beaches, quiet hidden coves, fashionable clubs, restaurants and cafes. In the afternoon, join the optional tour to Málaga, birthplace of Picasso. Visit the Picasso Museum and view the Paseo de la Alameda and Paseo del Parque. There’ll be time to walk through the historical town and explore the bustling market where over 250 stalls offer a huge cross-section of food, wine and crafts. DAY 14, Saturday - Full Day Morocco Excursion
A very distinctive change of scenery as you travel by high-speed ferry across the Straits of Gibraltar to Africa on your day trip to mystical Morocco. You continue by road to the bustling city of Tangier, stopping along your route for panoramic views. Upon arrival in the center of the city, a guided tour of the colorful Medina (old quarter) is followed by a visit to the Grand Bazaar, revealing treasures, trinkets and crafts galore. Enjoy a typical Moroccan lunch at a popular restaurant with lively entertainment. Time to shop for the famous Moroccan carpets before boarding a ferry that takes you back to Spain

DAY 15, Sunday - Alhambra Palace Tour
Depart the southern coast and journey to Moorish Granada. Your visit is highlighted by a tour of the magnificent 13th century Alhambra Palace, one of Spain’s most celebrated monuments, dramatically perched atop Assabica Hill overlooking the entire city. This imposing hilltop fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is one of the world’s finest examples of Moorish art and architecture. During the reign of the Moors, the Alhambra served as the summer residence of the royal family. Walk along the lanes of the serene Generalife Gardens with its beautifully designed courtyards, waterfalls and ponds and views of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. DAY 16, Monday - Toledo Sightseeing En Route to Madrid
Travel via the region of La Mancha, legendary home of Don Quixote, highlighted by views of his famous windmills. Arrive in Toledo, the former capital city of Spain that still retains its medieval atmosphere and charm. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1986, Toledo is known for its extensive monumental heritage and historical coexistence of Christian, Muslim and Jewish cultures. Walk through the ancient Jewish Quarter before the panoramic drive to the Alcazar of Toledo, a stone fortification located in the highest part of the city and the 13th century cathedral. Continue to the Santa Maria la Blanca Synagogue with its beautiful Moorish architecture, the oldest synagogue in Europe still standing, and the St. Tome Church, with its El Greco masterpiece. On to Madrid for evening at leisure and overnight

DAY 17, Tuesday - Madrid City Tour
This morning enjoy a sightseeing tour of Madrid. Drive along the Gran Via through the Opera District, Plaza de Colon and view the Royal Palace. Pass through Puerta del Sol Plaza and Plaza de España with its monument to the author Cervantes. The tour will end at the Prado Museum, where you will be able to view works of art by famous artists such as El Greco, Velázquez, and Ribera. Enjoy the afternoon at leisure or, join the optional tour to El Escorial, the combination monastery-palace-mausoleum erected by King Phillip II as a memorial to his father; it has since become an enduring legacy to Spain and burial place of Kings and Queens. In the evening, experience some of the "tapas" bars that have made Madrid famous. Sample specialties at each café and then continue on your tasting tour throughout the night!
